Muttontown Horsemen’s Association’s Annual Equine Festival will take place at the beautiful Muttontown Preserve on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 12pm to 4pm. This event features many of Long Island’s prominent equestrians. The festivities open with the award winning “Spirit of Long Island” mounted drill team.
The event will showcase several demonstrations including Polo by Meadowbrook Polo Club, Horsemanship Demos by Natural Horseman Sonny Garguilo, Equipped Horsemanship’s Mike Simonetti, Rob West from Equine Development and Hunter/Jumper Demo by Cindy Laskow. Uncle Carmine’s Traveling Zoo, pony rides, face-painting, games and treats will all delight children. “This event is to enlighten and educate the public about the equine community on Long Island and bring people to the beautiful Muttontown Preserve” said Joanna Sasso, President of MHA. “Last year’s event was attended by over 500 people and various groups, from horse rescues to the Long Island Chapter of the Greenbelt. We are thrilled that these same groups are present this year and that event continues to grow. We look forward to an even larger turnout this year and as always it is free to everyone” commented Phyllis Waxenberg, Treasurer of MHA.
MHA is recognized by Nassau County as the official Adopt-A-Park organization for Muttontown Preserve through the Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation. In this capacity, MHA works to maintain and improve the trails system to provide safe trails for riding and hiking along with the preservation of green spaces in the Muttontown community.
